Style :
This series of works are reflection of artist Gandhi’s conceived perceptions in the realm of understanding the society. These are in reality mere understandings and the conflict within own thoughts. Whatever he see and perceive gets reflected in his work of art and denote them using dates which are either of regular importance or of the fusion of imaginative objects related to his thought process. Living in multiple cultures in several times and places, with changing trends affected artist to exist. This became a source of negotiating with modernity in society. This series of paintings represent own self-consciousness as well as his experience with different sects of people through journeys. There is a complex blend of popular elements with religious, historical and mundane. The fusion of images and dates display the evidence of journeys with multi diverse culture.
This series of painting done in water color on paper, and choice of images like portraits and animals reciprocate to popular icon or religious symbols. In this silhouette artist juxtaposed images of chaotic city and village events which view as digital camouflage. This visually interpreted the difference between life in city and life in village. Every individual experience of artist Gandhi’s journeys are documented and visually represented through works as artist’s personal dairy.
