Style : Soumya Samanta, an artist who has graduated from Kala Bhawan in 2007, with masters in Fine Arts and has been the recipient of the Annual Merit Scholarship has a strange obsession with threads and shirts that makes him wonder on “what if this world was made out of a silk thread and the butterfly was our god” ,would it make a difference. Let’s explore this through his recent collection.
He uses a touch of folk art in his works as one can see with a simple approach to space and color. In most of his paintings, we can see a texture rendered horizontally where the upper portion (sky) is linked to terrestrial world. He uses overlapping technique to create a sense of distance and expanse.
