About the Artist and his work :
Born :

Abesh Bivore Mitra is a Kolkata based artist. He was born in 1965 in suburban of Kolkata.

Education :
He received Bachelor of Fine Arts from Kala Bhavan , Visva Bharati, Santniketa in 1994 and Master of Fine Arts from Faculty of Fine Arts, M.S. University of Vadodara, Gujarat in 1996.

About his work :
More than 20 Years he has been practicing art in different parts of India and abroad.
He also worked at Garhi Studios, New Delhi and Lalit Kala Akademi., Kolkata. His vision was changed when he was studying Satiniketan (a space for international cultural milieu) and following through Baroda. After working at Garhi Studio, he came back to Kolkata and took a flight to France and created work on the basis of project at Ecole des Beaux Arts du mans ( an institution for contemporary art practice – Option Art ) where he got an international exposure.
After coming from France in 2002 he was engaged with institutional and professional art practice.
In recent past, he had a publication cum exhibition in Paris. The well known Art & Cultural Magazine published Abesh’s works in the issue FUSSEE 22 from Auvers Sur Oise, France along with other renowned poets, writers and artists’ and who works like Patrick Beurard – Valdoye, Mathias Perez, Christian Gabrielle, and Francois Di Dio.

Abesh’s works are based on issues and project related to Urbanisation, Transformed Landscape, Public Sphere and Migration. Sometimes it depends on curatorial perspectives like ‘Democracy’,’ Art against Terrorism’ and ‘Black & white’. He simultaneously has exhibited his woks in Institutional spaces and Gallery Spaces in India and abroad. As per his art practice he uses different mediums like Paintings, Installation – Photo Documentation – Graphics and Book Art which means he is combining together conventional and non conventional art practice medium as well as his own visual language.
He completed one year program on Option Art (4eme) from Ecole Superieure des Beaux Arts, Le Mans, France and created Original 100 Artist’s Book during his stay in Le Mans, Paris and Auvers Sur Oise.
